"Look no further than this attractive, comprehensive guide" - Outdoor Focus

This selected Cornish section of the South West Coast Path runs for 42 miles from St Ives to Penzance. It provides a superb week’s-worth of walking, and serves as a taster for the 630-mile National Trail experience.  Enjoy some of the UK’s finest coastal scenery including Land’s End, its wild south-western extreme.

This part of Cornwall is surprisingly accessible by mainline railway, and it offers plenty of charming places to stay and eat. The book includes an option to complete the circuit inland by St Michael’s Way, and also a side-trip by tidal causeway to St Michael’s Mount.

This book is in our pocket-friendly format, with perfect binding instead of concealed wiro. Unlike many paperbacks, it can be opened flat without splitting the spine.

Reviews

From a review in Irish Mountain Log

The Land’s End Circuit takes 3-6 days to walk, and the guide’s map-like dimensions would be spot on for this type of an outing. In terms of weight, it is more fly swatter than door-stop. Coupled with rainproof paper and spiral-bound, open-flat pages, the Rucksack Readers format is a good design, more comfortable to hold than the ubiquitous smartphone.

Despite its handy size, the guide contains sufficient practical information for planning and preparation, plus some history and a summary of key features of the circuit itself.  Almost half of the guide’s 72 pages describe the route in detail, using turn-by-turn walking directions in text, and an abundance of photographs and 1:35,000 maps.

I recommend this guide. It would be a welcome aid to a walk in the beautiful part of England.

From a review in Outdoor Focus

The full 630-mile length of the South West Coastal Path can be a little daunting to all but the most dedicated of walkers. So this truncated 42-mile circuit of the Land’s End peninsula, with the optional addition of a nine-mile, cross-country route using the pilgrimage route of St Michael’s Way to make it a circular walk, should find many takers. …

Produced in Rucksack’s usual pocket-friendly style on rainproof paper, Land’s End Circuit has everything a walker should need, from easy-to-read, large-scale, 1:35,000 Lovell Johns mapping, to tips on geology, history, weather, wildlife and where to stay and eat.

The author is a leadership expert and outdoor enthusiast, and that shows through in his description of the route, which is sprinkled throughout by fascinating fact boxes about points of interest. There’s a special section on tin mining, which was once such an important feature of the Cornish economy, and which once employed 30,000 workers, many of whom were children. …

With comprehensive sections on public transport and how to reach the start of the route by air, train and road, you need look no further than this attractive, comprehensive guide.
