Extract from the "Stirling Observer" review
From map reading to building and lighting fires, constructing shelters and stalking silently through the woodland undergrowth, it’s a steep learning curve for city boy Gavin ... The no-nonsense, get on with it, style of storytelling is one of the best things about the book ... Best of all is the way its young characters are simply allowed to be free to enjoy themselves. In that sense, approaching 30 years as it may be, it certainly feels like a breath of fresh air.

From a 5-star review at www.cool-reads.co.uk
It has a real Scottish feel to it, one of the reasons I like it so much. It also teaches you some small bits of history along the way (don’t let that put you off). It is one of my favourite books because it is so well written ...”

From a pupil's letter
I like your books because they are a kind of mystery. At the end of each chapter you always put something exciting. That makes it hard to put down.
From a letter to the author
I like the way you use real land-marks and the way in which you mix fact in with your writing ... I read many books like the "Chronicles of Narnia" but "Light on Dumyat" is my all-time favourite!
