Our long-awaited Trek to Everest
is now ready to pre-order. It shows the beauty and charm of trekking in
Nepal, and proposes several options beyond the standard Base Camp trek.
With 95 photos and 9 pages of detailed mapping, this is a very visual
guidebook. Prepare now for the trek of a lifetime: late autumn is the
ideal time to go. All profits go to Mountain People, who are helping Nepalis to help themselves.
Here is a wonderful 10-minute film
made by the then 15-year-old Zeki Basan. It pays homage to John Muir
and the National Parks, and was shot on location in in Yosemite. It is
beautifully constructed, scripted and edited, supported by a grant from
Sir Jackie Stewart. Watch Zeki start a fire with fungus and juniper
bark, flint and steel. Freshly caught fish are then skewered on dogwood,
cooked and served with Mare's Tails on the side. Eat your heart out,
Here is the window of Blackwell's (South Bridge, Edinburgh) promoting the launch event for Wild America this
