Title: Kintyre Way Path Improvements
Post by: Kintyre Way Ranger on March 28, 2011, 10:28:21 am
Last year the Forestry Commission extended the track above Tarbert towards Skipness and a few people managed to miss the turn off where the Kintyre Way leaves the new track. Its now waymarked but sometimes people are so busy talking that they don't notice waymarks and carry on regardless! The new track starts at mile mark 4, just beside a picnic table. Walkers should continue along the new track for 10 minutes, just over half a mile, to NR 87589 63470 where the Kintyre Way path branches off sharply to the left. Look out for a standing stone beside the track and a waymark at the start of the path.

Other good news is that a new bridge has gone in just South of Tayinloan where previously walkers had to wade across a small stream. Most of the time it wasn't a problem but with heavy rain and a high tide it could be a challenge.  :)
