Title: Wild Camping on the Kerry Way
Post by: will on March 17, 2010, 08:37:30 pm
Does anyone know what the potential is for wild camping on the Kerry Way? Is it allowed, or is it possible? If not, are there enough official campsites along the way to camp everynight without paying for hotels/B&B's?

Thanks.

Hello there
As all Irish land is private owned, you'll have to ask permission to camp on fenced ground. Elsewhere camp discreetly, - ideally so you're out of sight of the marked route.  Water purification will be essential - sheep lurk everywhere, and keep the Camping Code in mind (see the Guide).  There should be commercial campsites with facilities in Killarney, Glenbeigh, Caherdaniel, Sneem and Kenmare.
And lastly - hope for a dry break in the often-wet weather !

Good walking
