There have been several route changes over the years since our first edition.  Our new edition documents them all, and will be out by early June.  Meanwhile, we thought we should document the main ones: these are
  • the extension of the route into the centre of Killarney: see page 24
  • the option of the Windy Gap route into Glenbeigh: see page 34
  • the rerouted approach to Cahersiveen: see page 39.
(All page numbers refer to our new edition.)  The first is merely official recognition of what happened before, namely that almost everybody started the walk in central Killarney rather than at the Flesk Bridge to its south.  The other two are real changes, covered in detail by our book, and soon you'll be able to download the relevant pages here.

The net effect of the changes is that the Way has become longer, now measuring 208 km/129 miles by the coastal route or 224 km/139 miles by the inland route between Waterville and Caherdaniel.

See also my post about OSI maps (2010).
