This isn't really a news story at all, since the proposed extension of the Way at Fort William has been under debate for the last five years.  It isn't really an extension either, since on completing the walk, most walkers head either for their overnight accommodation or for the bus or train.  I don't think any of them bivvied on the Nevis Bridge roundabout.  If a monument is placed at the far end of the High Street, as proposed, only the souvenir-hungry walkers will divert there just to take their "terminus photographs".

Amid continuing debate about whether the Way should finish at the western end of the High Street or at the start of the Great Glen Way, the extra mile has finally been "announced".  We've added the likely High St terminus (Gordon Square) to our route map and will add the extended route once we learn from a reliable source that it is fully resolved.  Please zoom in to view this in detail.

Gee, I didn't realise it was that recent.  The thing has been damaged already as well ... Quite nice to get a picture at the end, though...

Quite a nice monument in a strange sort of way. Certainly glad to see it! Smiley
