It hasn’t been re-measured - it’s been extended by 10 miles. The Cowal Way runs now from Portavadie on Loch Fyne, in the south west of the Cowal Peninsula, to Inveruglas on Loch Lomond, a distance of 57 miles.
This welcome improvement of one of Argyll’s significant core paths is cause for celebration - and celebration it’s getting,
On the afternoon of Saturday 16th May, Glendaruel Village Hall will be home base for a series of family friendly events:
* Refreshments available from 1400hrs – teas, coffees and home baking
* Guided and non-guided walks
* The Walking Theatre Company: ‘Whisky Walk’ (terrain not child buggy friendly)
* New guidebook for the Cowal Way launched by Culture Minister, Michael Russell
* Barbeque by Winston Churchill (presumably on the beaches, the landing grounds, the fields, the streets and the hills?)
* Bar from 17.30hrs
* Ceilidh with Canned Haggis
